The Italian film of the year arrives at Giunti Odeon: a great success all over the world, in a single screening-event with English subtitles. In the Rome of the second half of the 1940s, Delia plays only the roles of wife and mother, while her husband Ivano is the head of the family. The engagement of the eldest daughter, to a boy from the bourgeoisie, creates turmoil in the family. When Delia receives a mysterious letter, she is determined to overturn the established roles and is finally able to imagine a better future.
