FIORE MIO, the first film written, directed and starring Paolo Cognetti, arrives at Giunti Odeon. After the success of The Eight Mountains - based on his novel of the same name and directed by Felix Van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch, winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes 2022 - Paolo Cognetti comes back to the cinema. The protagonist of FIORE MIO is the most visceral theme of Cognetti's poetics: the mountains that the author also explored in the documentary Sogni di Grande Nord (Dreams of the Great North) directed by Dario Acocella, where he followed in the footsteps of Into the Wild's Christopher McCandless' in the incredible and remote settings of Alaska. This time, Paolo Cognetti's journey gets closer to the viewer and recounts, in an intimate, introspective and never predictable way, his mountain: Monte Rosa, a geographical place but above all a place of feeling and a place of understanding of what we have around us. When, in the summer of 2022, Italy is dried up by drought, Paolo Cognetti witnesses for the first time the spring from his home in Estoul, a small village at 1700 metres above sea level overlooking the valley of Brusson. This event deeply upset him, so much so that it gave him the idea of wanting to recount the beauty of his mountains, landscapes and glaciers now destined to disappear or change forever due to climate change.
