On the occasion of the presentation (at 6.30 pm) of Vittorio Lingiardi's new book, Corpo, umano (Einaudi), one of Pedro Almodóvar's greatest masterpieces returns to the Giunti Odeon big screen, in a restored version.
The curtain opens on Pina Bausch's show, Café Muller. Among the spectators are two men, sitting next to each other by chance. They are Benigno (Javier Cámara), a young nurse, and Marco (Darío Grandinetti), a 40-year-old writer. A few months later, the two men meet again at El Bosque, the private clinic where Benigno works. Lydia (Rosario Flores), Marco's girlfriend, is a bullfighter who fell into a coma during a bullfight. Benigno takes care of another comatose woman, Alicia (Leonor Watling), a young dance student. It is the beginning of an intense friendship... as linear as a roller coaster. In that space of time suspended within the walls of the clinic, the lives of four characters will flow in all directions, past, present and future, pulling them towards an unexpected destiny. Pedro Almodóvar gives us intense interpretations of rare poetry, in a crescendo of feelings and passions, friendship and loneliness, enriched by images of such purity and beauty as to reach an absolutely extraordinary milestone of eloquence and mastery.
