At Giunti Odeon the first appointment of the retrospective The Big Dreamer: the cinema of David Lynch, with one of his masterpieces: WILD AT HEART, in a new 4K version on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its release. From a novel by Barry Gifford. Sailor, on parole, and Lula, a runaway, love each other madly and attempt to reach Texas. A chase thriller that has the cadences of a black film, the manners of a street movie and the excesses of violence of a gothic melodrama. Lynch connotes his cursed story of the Deep South with an ironic and parodistic dimension that overturns its meaning and reveals its true nature as a comic fable, in the ‘low’ meaning of the word, but also close to the comic strip, that of two lovers crossing an atrocious world with a wild heart. Even when seemingly conforming to the laws of a genre, Lynch remains an impressionistic and grotesque visionary who looks at today's America with a pitiless eye. Golden Palme at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990.
