One of Studio Ghibli's and Japanese animated cinema's absolute masterpieces returns to the big screen at Giunti Odeon: the poignant Grave of the Fireflies, the most famous film by Isao Takahata, Hayao Miyazaki's mentor. In the final days of World War II, an American bombing raid kills the mother of 14-year-old Seita and his 4-year-old sister Setsuko. Left alone and with nowhere to go, the two try to survive in the Japanese countryside. After arguing with their only remaining relative, Seita tries to take care of himself and Setsuko, finding shelter in an abandoned refuge and stealing food. But with resources becoming increasingly scarce, the two siblings have no choice but to cling to brief moments of happiness in a world now in ruins.
