With the preview on December 31 (at 9.30 p.m.), Giunti Odeon presents the eagerly awaited new film by one of the greatest masters of contemporary Korean cinema, Park Chan-wook (Old Boy, Thirst, Decision to Leave), starring Lee Byung-hun, the lead actor in the cult TV series Squid Game. The film, which was in competition at the last Venice Film Festival and is in the running for the Academy Awards, tells the story of You Man-su, a paper manufacturing specialist with twenty-five years of experience, who leads a simple and peaceful life with his wife Miri and their two children. His work is more than just a profession, it is what shapes his identity: “I have everything I want,” he can say with pride. However, when his company fires him without warning, his life falls apart and he risks losing everything he has built: his mortgage, the greenhouse he tends with passion, dance lessons with his wife, even the upkeep of the two golden retrievers to which his children are very attached. In desperation, he tries everything he can by applying to Moon Paper, the company where he is certain he can prove his worth. Convinced that he deserves the job more than anyone else, he makes a very specific decision: ‘If there's no place for me, I'll find a way to make room for myself.’ How far will he be willing to go if there is no other choice?
