Fifty years after its release, Miloš Forman's masterpiece One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest returns to the big screen at Giunti Odeon, in a stunning 4K restoration by the Academy Film Archive. The screening will be preceded by an exclusive video presentation by Michael Douglas, one of the film's producers.
A subversive work, a hymn to freedom that triumphed at the Oscars in all the main categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (the extraordinary Jack Nicholson), Best Actress (Louise Fletcher, in the role of the tyrannical Nurse Ratched) and Best Adapted Screenplay (from Ken Kesey's bestseller). Candle McMurphy, arrested for minor offences, is taken to a psychiatric clinic, where he tries to pretend to be crazy to escape prison. Here he comes into contact with the other patients, quickly becoming their favourite: he makes fun of the psychoanalysis sessions, improvises as a commentator and organises a small boat trip. The hospital is run by the iron-fisted head nurse, Miss Ratched, who has organised the patients' lives according to rules of uncompromising discipline.
An unmissable opportunity to immerse yourself on the big screen in the unforgettable world of that group of outcasts, eccentrics, misunderstood and marginalised people who made cinema history.
