Giunti Odeon presents Franco Battiato. Il lungo viaggio (Franco Battiato: The Long Journey), a biopic directed by Renato De Maria and written by Monica Rametta, dedicated to one of the greatest artists in Italian music. The film follows the journey of the young Battiato, played by an extraordinary Dario Aita, from Sicily to his arrival in Milan in the 1970s, exploring the crucial moments on the road to success and accompanying him until his return to his beloved homeland. The movie is the story of an inner journey, in which the artist's nature, already inclined towards spirituality, transforms into a more conscious quest, also through his friendship with Fleur (Elena Radonicich), his relationship with his mother (Simona Malato) and fundamental encounters, such as his friendship with Juri Camisasca (Ermes Frattini) and Giuni Russo (Nicole Petrelli), up to his historic partnership with Giusto Pio (Giulio Forges Davanzati), co-author of many of the most important songs of Franco Battiato's career. The film traces Franco Battiato's evolution from radical experimentation to evenings with Giorgio Gaber and Ombretta Colli to pop success, focusing on his true journey: the search for his inner self. An intimate and visionary tale, in which music becomes the language of a constant striving towards the transcendent, beyond all forms of celebrity.
