One of Hayao Miyazaki’s greatest masterpieces and one of the greatest in the history of animated cinema returns to the big screen at Giunti Odeon: Princess Mononoke, in a stunning new 4K version. After a clash with a beast possessed by a demon, Prince Ashitaka is afflicted by a deadly curse. He therefore sets out on a journey to discover its origin and seek a cure from the great Beast God, the only one capable of healing him. Upon arriving in the regions where the beast came from, he discovers a war between humans and a primitive race of forest animals—giants, sentient beings aided by the one they call the Ghost Princess, a girl raised by wolves who has renounced humanity. On the other side, the humans, led by Lady Eboshi — who governs her village of blacksmiths with love, justice, and compassion — want to work the mountain and cut down the trees to extract iron (a source of wealth). In the midst of this, a group of monks tries to incite the humans to kill the Beast God and steal his head because, it is said, it grants eternal youth. Before the screening, all audience members will receive a complimentary reprint of the film’s original poster.
