The Burmese Harp (original restored Japanese version with Italian subtitles)

Director : Kon Ichikawa

Cast : Rentaro Mikuni, Shoji Yasui, Jun Hamamura, Taketoshi Naito, Shunji Kasuga

Durata : 01:57

At Giunti Odeon, one of the greatest masterpieces of film history arrives in a restored version. Based on the novel of the same name by Michio Takeyama and directed by Kon Ichikawa, the film tells the story of a regiment of the Japanese Imperial Army that, after surrendering to British forces in Burma at the end of World War II, finds a new harmony through singing. A private soldier, believed dead, becomes a Buddhist monk and discovers spiritual enlightenment. Magnificently shot in silent black and white, it is a lyrical and eloquent meditation on the beauty that coexists with death and remains one of the most sweeping anti-militarist statements in the whole of Japanese cinema.
