Thursday 8/08 - ore 21:00

Nomadland, the investigative story by Jessica Bruder, brought to the big screen by Frances McDormand in the eponymous and award-winning film.

A free screening (in the original version with Italian subtitles) on the led wall of Giunti Odeon at 9:00 PM.

We remind you that the bookstore will be open continuously from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM until August 28th.

Directed by Chloé Zhao, the movie tells the story of Fern, a woman in her sixties from Nevada, who, following the economic collapse caused by the Great Recession, loses her job at the company where she worked. Now she finds herself unemployed and alone, as her husband has recently passed away. In what would seem like a tragic situation for anyone, Fern decides to make an unexpected move: she sells everything she has to buy a van and tries life on the road, searching for work. With her belongings in tow, Fern sets off towards the western states, determined to live as a modern-day nomad, outside of current society and conventions.

Along the way, Fern meets other nomads, with whom she shares various moments, their personal stories, and advice for living on the road. It is through this company that Fern manages to open up and share her story, finally ready to face the present, which seems, mile after mile, like just a recent past.
