RESOLUTION by Irvine Welsh
Lunedì 30/06 - ore 18:30

Irvine Welsh comes to Giunti Odeon – the unmistakable voice of contemporary literature and author of the iconic Trainspotting, the novel that inspired the cult film starring a young Ewan McGregor.
Welsh will be on our stage alongside journalist Simone Innocenti to present Resolution (Guanda), the novel that brings to a close the turbulent saga of Ray Lennox, one of the most enigmatic and intriguing characters created by the author.

The interview will be translated by Simona Caldera.

About the book:

Former detective Ray Lennox has decided to start over. He’s left Edinburgh and his burdensome past behind, moving to Brighton where his addictions and obsessions have been replaced by a healthier lifestyle, a job that keeps him out of trouble, and a new love with a young academic. But everything is about to be turned upside down…

A chance encounter with Mathew Cardingworth, a charismatic and successful businessman, brings back haunting memories from Lennox’s childhood — memories of a horrific afternoon in a tunnel. Could Cardingworth be one of the bastards who assaulted him when he was just eleven years old? Lennox has no doubt — that face hit him like a punch. But he clearly remembers there were three of them. Who were the others? Can he finally uncover their identities and bring them to justice?

In a nightmarish spiral of rage and violence, Lennox discovers that Cardingworth has many skeletons in his closet — and a dark link to the mysterious disappearances of foster children placed with families in the area during the 1980s and 90s. Old truths and new revelations collide in a disturbing and dangerous investigation, at the end of which Lennox, with nothing left to lose, will be willing to sacrifice everything to quench his thirst for revenge.

About the author:

Irvine Welsh is a Scottish novelist and playwright.
He rose to fame in 1993 with Trainspotting, the novel — and later cult film directed by Danny Boyle — that made him the voice of the "chemical generation." Since then, Welsh has become one of Europe’s most beloved authors. His work is a striking mix of energy, sharp intelligence, linguistic inventiveness, boldness, dark humor, excess, obscenity, and ruthless nihilism — ingredients that have defined the unique extremism of his unforgettable storytelling.

Among his other novels are Filth (1995), Glue (2001), The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs (2006), Skagboys(2012), The Sex Lives of Siamese Twins (2014), The Blade Artist (2016), Dead Men’s Trousers (2019), Crime (2022), The Long Knives (2022), and Resolution (2024).
