The book:
When the kingdom of Evermore is conquered by the enemy and she is captured, Briony Rosewood realizes that her world has changed forever—and that the place she once called home is no longer safe. After the triumph of dark forces, slavery, imprisonment, and death become the grim fate of her people. Stripped of both magic and freedom, Briony herself is chosen to be sold to the highest bidder. As the princess of Evermore, she is the most coveted prize.
After a fierce auction, she is claimed by Toven Hearst, heir to a family known for its cruelty.
