The catalogue
Art Déco Florence is the focus of an important exhibition at Palazzo Medici Riccardi, running from 2 April to 25 August and curated by Lucia Mannini.
After the Liberty style and the Futurist period, in the 1920s the Tuscan capital became one of the most vibrant centres of Art Déco taste on an international level, offering innovative examples in the visual and decorative arts, and standing at the forefront of fashion, graphic design — including advertising — and design, in dialogue with capitals such as Paris, London and New York.
Among the works on display are examples of the production of major figures active in Florence at the time, including Gio Ponti, Thayaht, Galileo Chini, Umberto Brunelleschi and Alfredo Müller, as well as Ferragamo and Gucci.
